The Quantum Mechanics of Defects
Ascona, 26-29 April 2015
Organizers
- Fabien Bruneval, CEA Saclay, Gif-sur-Yvette, France
- Patrick Rinke, Aalto University, Helsinki, Finland
- Alfredo Pasquarello, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland
Defects permeate all fields of science. Deciphering the properties of defects experimentally remains challenging. A complementary approach is to solve the quantum mechanical equations with high performance computing. This approach is now used in materials science, chemistry, nanoscience or quantum computing. However, several limitations still hinder a general understanding of defects. Overcoming these limitations in a concerted way will be the objective of the workshop.
